Faculty

Our faculty consists of a group of internationally acclaimed jazz musicians who are devoted to manifesting the vision and mission of the Queens School of Jazz by mentoring others in a safe and encouraging communal setting.  Local to Queens, each faculty member can play their instrument and mentor students in way that creates fresh and new collaborative and improvisational music for every 10 week big band or jazz combo performance workshops.  Sharif Kales will be leading trumpet sections for big band and jazz combos.  Barry D, who is a Grammy mentor, will lead piano sections in all programs.  Darren Lipper will lead electric and double bass sections.  Evan Schwam and Stewart Kong will lead all saxophone sections.  Dr. Christina Love Lee will lead vocal, piano, and spiritual connectivity & growth workshops.  Joshua Lam will be co-directing big band workshops with Stewart Kong.
